I can only take this stuff every twelve hours, and it’s not doing what it’s supposed to. Today is day five of something going terribly wrong inside my head and chest.
It started with the bus air being too cold and me waking up with a sore throat and feeling really dried out. When I finally figured out how to close the vents in my bunk, it was too late. Something nasty had set in, and now I have been sick for almost a week. Great way to start off a tour huh? There are a few other guys that it’s happening to also, but it seems I have been hit the worst. From what I can tell this thing has moved into my chest giving me a really awesome voice and “wheezing” when I breathe in.
Today we are in beautiful San Diego. The weather is amazing, and the venue is really cool too. It’s too bad I have absolutely zero desire to go out and enjoy any of it. It’s okay though, I have plenty of things I can be doing.
Lat night was an amazing show in Phoenix at the Celebrity Theatre, where the stage is in the middle of the room and continually spinning throughout the show. I don’t know how it works, but it’s pretty amazing. I threw a couple more pictures on my photo blog from last night if you are interested.

Get well soon.

Awww… I hope you feel better soon Brody!
Comment by alymc October 12, 2007 @ 6:42 pmYou know, you can avoid about 85 % of all colds and viruses if you use a hand santizer. Most colds and crap like that come from you rubbing your eyes, picking your nose, or eating without sanitizing. Doesn’t help much now, but for later. FYI.
sincerely,
the Kind of sinus infections, flue, allergies, and colds. (former king since I… well, I’m not saying cause I’ll jinx it and get a whopper tomorrow.)
Comment by Seth Ward October 12, 2007 @ 7:01 pmI’m sure you know about this, but have you been taking Mucinex DM? You should definitely take Mucinex DM rather than just plain Mucinex. Mucinex DM makes me loopy, but oh boy, does it clear up the gunk. And take two.
But I hate to say it. The whole wheezing thing might call for a doctor’s visit cuz that can get pretty bad if it doesn’t go away.
That’s my diagnosis, no charge, thank you.
Dr. Fancy P.
Comment by FancyPants October 12, 2007 @ 7:49 pmBrody,
Remember being at Wholefoods and Josh and I were giving you more crap about the fact that all you do as a road manager is drive?
Well, your well thought out response of “You guys are just jealous you aint doing this job…”
I believe my response was “you think I want to take a pay cut to do what you do?”
Well this is one more reason I do not envy your job. I lived in close proximity to people for four years in the Army. People breathing, sneazing and coughing on one another.
While the comradery is a blast at the minimum, the third world conditions are really not all that exciting.
Just another reason my friend I do not want your job, but there are a ton of women who have of lately(for some reason) found your blog who would die to have your current job.
Comment by Shawn Bashor October 12, 2007 @ 8:13 pmno fun.

Hope you are feeling better today!
Comment by Kddub October 13, 2007 @ 7:29 amYou know Brody I just realized something.
You baby sit one grown man, make sure he has his two bottles of water on stage, make sure his merchandise table is ready to go, and make sure he gets on-stage at the right time…And you blog once every few days or so.
I just noticed your wife on the other hand takes care of two boys and still blogs nearly everyday.
That is impressive.
Comment by Shawn Bashor October 13, 2007 @ 7:53 amamazing…I just spent the last week in the slums of a third world country and didn’t get sick…just what does that say about the conditions a on a tour bus? hhmmmmm…..sorry bro…that sucks.
Comment by Michael October 13, 2007 @ 10:16 amShawn,
Brody’s wife takes care of THREE boys, not two, and very adorable, but active ones at that.
Brody,
Comment by Beth October 13, 2007 @ 12:49 pmI second the wheezing might warrant a doctor’s visit advise from above. It can be a sign of bronchitis or pneumonia. Are you running a fever? I’m paranoid about wheezing as three of my kids have asthma and I’m currently running the gambit of testing for it myself.
Hope you’re getting better!
Beth
Thanks for all the concern from everyone. I think this thing is about to end. If not, we have a day off in Beverly Hills Monday, and I may find a doctor…. that is if there is one that doesn’t specialize in plastic surgery.
and Shawn… it surprises you that I married up? My wife is better than me at everything.
Comment by brodyharper October 13, 2007 @ 12:53 pmThank you Beth, Yeah Brody, three…gosh.
Brody,
Comment by Shawn Bashor October 13, 2007 @ 1:32 pmI need one of those.
Your wife is awsome and it is three boys that she takes care of. Just want to make sure the facts are right. Hope you are feeling better by the San Francisco show.
