language.jpg“Worthy is that Lamb who was slain, Holy is he, sing a new song, to him who sits on Heaven’s mercy seat… Clothed in rainbows of living color, flashes of lightning, rolls of thunder, blessing and honor, strength and glory, and power be to you, the only wise king…”

Ummm… what?

But the flier said to bring all your “unchurched” friends. “Bring them so we can minister to them. Bring people that have never heard about Jesus, the gospel, or Heaven’s mercy seat, so we can sing about it.” That’s what the flier said.

Okay, maybe that’s not what the flier said, but those words are from a song lead by a clean looking worship team, with perfect smiles, at an outreach event.

“Excuse me, Evangelist? I’m still a little hazy on the ‘mercy seat’ thing… and refresh me why we are singing about someone I have never heard of that is, or should be, ‘clothed in rainbows of living color’… oh yeah and I have no idea what that means by the way.”

I’m not even sure I understand all of those words. Why would that song be something chosen to play at an “outreach” event? What makes anyone think that those words will make sense to anyone, let alone the people they have been trying so hard to get there?

beach.jpgWe have been out here a whole week and feel like we haven’t stopped. It’s been non stop running around and meeting up with people we haven’t seen in a few years. There are always too many people that I want to get together with and only so much time I can spend at any particular Starbucks.

Yesterday we loaded up the kids, and went to San Francisco for the day with some friends. We beached… my skin… it burned. But then again, that’s why the sun and I aren’t friends. The boys had a great time, playing in the sand and getting knocked over by the waves.

Today I went to my parents church and played a few songs with the worship team, and met up with Phil for lunch. He’s in town playing for a Calvary Chapel Event and had some time to grab some pizza and hang with the fam. Currently he is on the other couch blogging, then we will grab some coffee and I’ll drop him off where he’s playing tonight.

And speaking of Phil. I suppose now is as good of a time as any to mention that I’m officially going to be heading out with Phil on his fall tour with David Crowder. It’s October and half of November so it will be a pretty busy time, but I think Phil and I will have a great time together and I’m excited to kick it with the Crowder guys again…. you know… old school… or something.

Shaun will be taking a break to write a book and an album during that time so it will be fun to mix things up a little.

Other than that, not much else interesting going on here.

Make sure to check out Shaun’s blog today and try to help in anyway possible, if you can.

badgebigsacramentoso.jpgI got to go visit some friends at the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department last night. Friends I hadn’t seen in over two years.

Now it would be a lie if I said that I missed the work there. Answering 911 was one of the most draining, life sucking things I have ever done, but I will say that leaving the people that I worked with was harder than any other job I have left.

I was there for over two years and made some great friendships, and it was cool to go back and see them. It was also nice to walk in there and not get in trouble for talking about my quest for mediocrity. I past on the Impossible Quiz to them and I think a couple guys made it to question 70. I hope to be able to visit again before we leave.

Drew Needs To Blog

We spent yesterday evening catching up with some friends that we hadn’t seen in a few years. We grabbed some Subway, some beverages and went to the park to watch the kids play. One of the couples that we were with, also have three boys very similar ages to our boys so it was crazy. Their dad Drew needs a blog. He admits to reading this blog every day, but refuses to comment. So here I am, dedicating an entire post to the encouragement of Drew and his future blog. Let’s all join in.

“…But I won’t have anything to blog about.” he says.

What does anyone have to blog about? I’ve got an old picture of some creepy little girl on this one, and no one can do a thing about it.

I know Drew will also be reading the comments so lets encourage him to blog about something… anything… He’s a pretty interesting guy, knows some crap about philosophy and has three boys with another on the way. There’s at least one or two good stories in there somewhere.

“…We show the suspension was reinstated yesterday….”

Outgoing Correspondence
Department Of Safety

**Does anyone else think this sentence, supposedly saying that I have my license back, doesn’t really make sense? Wouldn’t it be a bad thing if the “suspension” was “reinstated”? Wouldn’t that come across as my… oh, you know… “suspension was reinstated”?

“Excuse me, Department of Safety? Did you mean to say that my license has been reinstated?”**

At any rate, I am planning on driving today, so if there isn’t anything posted on here for a while, I’m probably in jail. Have a good Wednesday.

handcuffed.jpgSo today is Tuesday. I was “supposed” to have my license back Monday. I did not get my license back Monday. I didn’t even get my license back on Tuesday. This morning I called and asked if that the lady told me on Friday was accurate and that my license was reinstated yesterday.

*cricket – cricket*

“Hello? Are you there?”

“Sir I have no idea what you are talking about.”

It turns out the lady working at four o’clock on Friday afternoon in a government office, in fact, didn’t know what she was talking about. Either that, or it was four o’clock on a Friday afternoon, in a government office.

So here’s the deal now. They have no faxed information from me, or my insurance company. They have no record of me faxing anything, simply because the “faxes don’t go to that office”. I asked them where they went. They said the “correspondence office”. I asked if they could call them. They said no. The supervisor said no.

All they would tell me is that I still don’t have my license.

While on vacation.

In California.

Across the country.
